Hi!!! I didn't realize you were the official author of The Dustin Experiment. I loved it! It was really good. Your writing style was really fun and engaging!

I have to ask though, just cause it was one of the funniest things in the novel, why ducks?

You’re so sweet, thank you for the message!

And. HAHA. This was the bit I wasn’t sure I was going to get away with that I mentioned once before. It was so absurd and silly and delightful and I had so much fun with it that I was sure they’d hate it, but they didn’t!

Anyway, this passage is how it started. When I was drafting, it was just a silly joke.

But from there it just kind of took off like “wouldn’t it be funny if Eddie then encountered a duck” and “actually, given Dustin’s animal handling skills circa D'Artagnan, maybe we could go full-on animal companion with a duck” and it all just unraveled perfectly from there.

Additionally, I wanted to balance out the “scary intimidating Eddie” with the “actually a softie Eddie” and this seemed like a delightful way to soften him in an environment that was very unfamiliar to him (the science fair as a whole).

I know it’s ridiculous. I also know the Eddie stans on twitter are having a field day with this new tidbit, lol. Shoutout to them. All I can say is I’m honored to have used my powers of semi-canon for these purposes >:)

In a flare and watching stranger things so here’s a Steve headcannon:

Steve suffers with chronic pain after everything not just migraines but bone deep pain that just nags at him until either Robin or Eddie convince him to at least try out a mobility aid and of course he’s hesitant at first. He’s so used to being the big strong protector of the group and he feels like the aid is a sign of weakness but after much convincing (and nagging on Robins part) he finally gets a cane and it changes his view completely. He’s actually able to move without too much pain,he able to keep up with the kids again something he’s been struggling with since Vecna and most importantly he has freedom again. Honestly I just need Steve with a mobility aid <3
